Consuming Kids


The movie “Consuming Kids” describes how a multi-billion dollar market targets children to consume their products. After the lift of the government regulation on advertising to children during the Reagan administration, the child demographic has exploded. Toys are not the only products that are advertised specifically to children. Junk food, violate videogames even car ads are focused on children and not the audiences they should be targeted toward. The film states, since children start buying certain product early in life they become “slaves” to the product for life. So with all the advertisements children see today, this generation has been turned into one of the most vast and powerful demographics in the world.
